Guidelines for Inspection and Maintenance of Dehumidifiers 1

Fault 1: The display screen is not showing (blank screen)

1. The power cord is improperly connected

2. The connection cable between the main board and the panel is loose

3. The fuse on the main board is blown

4. Main board or display screen malfunction (including membrane switch malfunction)

Fault 2: The fan is not working

1. There is a problem with the main board

2. The motor is stuck

3. Poor condition of the capacitor

4. Loose wiring terminals of the fan

Fault 3: The dehumidification effect is not significant

1. Unsealed environment

2. The filter is clogged

3. Low environmental humidity/temperature

4. Obstacles blocking the air inlet and outlet

5. The capacity of the dehumidifier does not match the space area

6. Leakage of refrigerant

7. Obvious dirt on the surface of the evaporator or condenser

Fault 1: Power on, but the display screen is not showing (blank screen)

Cause 1: The power cord is improperly connected

The blank screen may be due to poor contact between the plug and the socket or the socket not being powered on.

Method:

Owners can try connecting the plug to different sockets multiple times. If the panel displays normally, it means there is no problem with the dehumidifier itself.

Cause 2: The connection cable between the main board and the panel is loose

Gently pull out the display screen and check the connecting wire.

Method:

Adjust or plug the connecting wire repeatedly. If the panel can display normally, it means that the only issue is poor contact of the connecting wire.

Cause 3: The fuse on the main board is blown

If the appliance is not working and there are no other obvious reasons, the fuse is likely blown. Open the machine casing, locate the motherboard, and observe the fuse. If the metal wire of the fuse breaks, turns black, or burns, it indicates that it has blown.

Method:

When replacing a fuse, use a new fuse with the same amperage (rated current) as the original one. If the newly replaced fuse burns out again, it indicates that there are other problems with the circuit, and further troubleshooting is needed.

Cause 4: Main board or display screen malfunction (including membrane switch malfunction)

If the power supply is normal, the display screen is connected without any problems, and the fuse is intact, there is likely a quality issue with the main board or the display screen itself.

Method:

It is recommended to go to the local electrical repair center to ask a professional to test the machine. If the machine is within its warranty period and the main board and display board need to be replaced, you can contact the seller for after-sales service.

1.1 Check Power Cord
1.2 Check Connection Cable of the Dispaly Panel
1.3 Check the Mainboard Fuse
1.4 Check the Dispaly Panel Itself

Fault 2: The display screen is normal, but the fan is not working

2.1 Check the Main Board
2.2 Check the Motor
2.3 Check the Capacitor
2.4 Check the Terminal Block of the Fan

Reason 1: There is a problem with the main board

The main board of the dehumidifier is its core control unit, which is responsible for receiving and processing signals from sensors, and controlling the working status of the dehumidifier according to preset programs, including the fan, compressor, and humidity control system.

Method:

If there is an abnormality in the main board, it will affect the operation of the fan. The solution is to replace the main board.

Reason 2: The motor is stuck

The fan motor is connected to the fan and is responsible for drawing indoor humid air into the unit, processing it through the evaporator and condenser, and then blowing out the dry cold air.

Method:

If the fan motor is abnormal, the solution is to replace the motor or related components.

Reason 3: Poor condition of the capacitor

The compressor and fan of a dehumidifier both require capacitors to start and run, which is the basis for their operation.

Method:

If the capacitor (for startup or operation) is abnormal, the capacitor or related wiring needs to be replaced.

Reason 4: Loose wiring terminals of the fan

If the main board, motor, and capacitor of the dehumidifier are all normal, it is recommended to debug the wiring terminal of the fan.

Method:

After reconnecting the wire and port, turn on the power to test the fan. If there is airflow, it means the problem is solved. If the fan still does not work, it is recommended to contact a professional or the seller.

Fault 3: The fan is running normally, but the dehumidification effect is not significant

Reason 1: Unsealed environment

When using a dehumidifier, airtightness is crucial to prevent moisture from continuously entering and affecting the dehumidification effect.

Method:

The ideal dehumidification scenario should be a sealed room, closing doors and windows during use, which can prevent humid air from entering and improve dehumidification efficiency.

Reason 2: The filter is clogged

Blockage of the filter will hinder the smooth flow of air, making it difficult for the dehumidifier to fully absorb moisture, resulting in a decrease in dehumidification efficiency.

Method:

The cleaning steps for the filter: Disconnect the power, open the casing, remove the filter, use a vacuum cleaner or water to clean it, then rinse it and dry it.

3.1 Check the Space Is Enclosed
3.2 Check the Filter

Reason 3: Low environmental humidity/temperature

The working environment temperature and humidity range of the refrigerant dehumidifier is 5-38℃, 20%-90%RH. Being below or above this range can result in poor dehumidification performance and even damage to the compressor.

Method:

It is recommended to set the target humidity value of the dehumidifier to 40%-60%, which is the most comfortable range for the human body and can effectively prevent mold growth. If the environmental humidity is already low (<40%), it is not recommended to use a dehumidifier. If the ambient temperature is too low, owners can use a warming device to increase the indoor temperature to increase dehumidification efficiency.

Reason 4: Obstacles blocking the air inlet and outlet

Dust and microbial accumulation can affect air circulation and decrease dehumidification efficiency.

Method:

If there are clothes, furniture, or other objects blocking the air inlet and outlet of the dehumidifier, you should remove them. If the blockage is caused by internal accumulation, refer to the manual and carefully clean the evaporator with a soft-bristle brush after powering off (be careful not to wet the electrical parts). If necessary, rinse with running clean water.

Reason 5: The capacity of the dehumidifier does not match the space area

The capacity (L/day) of the dehumidifier should be matched with the size of the space to ensure the dehumidification effect and avoid wasting energy or poor performance. The simple formula is: space area (㎡) x 0.8 ≈ required dehumidification capacity (liters/day).

Method:

If the dehumidification capacity of the dehumidifier you are using is too small, it is recommended to increase the number of dehumidifiers or replace a dehumidifier with proper capacity.

3.6 Check the Refrigerant Leakage

Reason 6: Leakage of refrigerant

The appearance of refrigerant leakage is poor dehumidification effect or no water discharge, and there are oily substances around the compressor.

Method:

This situation requires contacting the seller for after-sales service. When manufacturers deal with leaks, they first need to repair the leak point through welding and then replenish the refrigerant.

Reason 7: Obvious dirt on the surface of the evaporator or condenser

Long-term lack of cleaning leads to the accumulation of dust, mold, and bacteria on the evaporator and condenser. This can lead to a decrease in dehumidification efficiency, affect air quality, and may cause health problems.

Method:

It is recommended to regularly (every 1-3 months) disassemble the shell of the dehumidifier according to the manual and use a soft bristled brush or vacuum cleaner to clean the dust on the fins. If the dirt is severe, the evaporator and condenser can be removed, cleaned with specialized fin cleaner, then rinsed with clean water and dried.
