How to dry clothes quickly on rainy days
Dehydrate again during machine washing
Recently, people who have washing machines with drying functions are fortunate to get dry clothes during the rainy season easily. However, clothes dried by a dryer are prone to wrinkles, and many people's washing machines do not have the function of a dryer. Everyone can use the necessary dehydration function in the washing machine to help clothes dry quickly.
The operation is very simple. After the automatic dehydration program of the washing machine is completed, manually press the dehydration button again. It should be noted that some clothing materials are not suitable for excessive dehydration. After secondary dehydration, the moisture content in the clothes will be significantly reduced, allowing the clothes to dry more quickly.
Drying the bathroom is better than drying the balcony
Usually, when people want to dry clothes indoors, they choose to hang them on the balcony if conditions permit. If the balcony cannot dry them, they also choose to hang them by the window of the room. Balconies and windowsills are close to the outside, and on rainy days, the outdoor air humidity is high, making it difficult for clothes to dry. Where should we hang our clothes? The best place is the bathroom.
Due to the high humidity in the bathroom, most bathrooms are equipped with ventilation fans to remove moisture from the bathroom. We turned on the ventilation fan half an hour before hanging clothes to take away the moisture in the bathroom. Then dry the wet clothes in and let the fan take away the moisture in the clothes, making it dry faster.
Sunbathing with the black bag
Before drying clothes, we can prepare a large black garbage bag or a large piece of black cotton cloth that is large enough to cover the clothes. Then use a clamp to clip the black bag and clothes together, and place them in a well-lit and well-ventilated area.
The main principle of doing this is that black can absorb heat and ultraviolet rays well. In rainy and continuous weather, using this method will dry much faster than natural drying.
Use the dehumidification mode of the air conditioner
The dehumidification function of air conditioning uses refrigeration and air circulation to cool the air below the dew point through an evaporator, causing water vapor to condense and be discharged, thereby reducing indoor humidity. High-end air conditioners may use rotary dehumidification systems to efficiently control humidity through dehumidification and regeneration processes. Enhancing this feature is widely used in homes, offices, and commercial places, not only improving living and working comfort, but also preventing furniture damage and mold growth.
Using an efficient dehumidifier
Dehumidifiers are the most effective tool for controlling humidity. Dehumidifiers will greatly reduce the time you need for washing and drying. Dehumidifiers will fight against additional moisture in the air, preventing any accumulation of mold or moisture in the home. This is very important because prolonged use of drying racks or clothes to dry damp clothes indoors can cause moisture in the air. But in addition to preventing excess moisture, crawl space dehumidifiers can also absorb moisture from the clothes themselves and help them dry faster. Preair provides high-quality whole home dehumidifiers and commercial portable dehumidifiers. Contact us if you have such a humidity problem.
Tips for drying in the air
Keep your distance
When drying clothes, be sure to maintain a distance. There should be a distance between clothes, as well as between the front and back of the clothes themselves. This can maximize the ventilation volume.
When drying long-sleeved or hooded clothes, flip them over and invert them up and down before drying. This drying position can ensure that the sleeves of the clothes are blown by the wind.
Thick clothes should be hung upside down
Hoodies and other slightly heavy clothes are difficult to dry. It is recommended not to use hangers to dry them. Instead, use a clothes clip to hold the hem and turn the clothes upside down before drying. This can prevent the fabric under the armpits from overlapping with the body, making it easier to dry.
If a clothes clip can be used to separate the front and back hem of the clothes, it will help accelerate the ventilation effect in the middle of the clothes.
Swinging the towel first makes it easier to dry
For heavier and coarser fabrics such as towels, it is best to stretch them out and shake them with both hands for at least 5 times before drying. This will allow the fibers, which have formed a clump after washing, to stand up and increase the surface area in contact with air, making it easier to dry.
Freeze first and then air dry
Wrap the clothes that have been washed and spin dried with a dry towel, put them in the freezer of the refrigerator, and let them sit for 5-8 hours before taking them out and drying them. This way, the frozen clothes not only dry quickly, but also do not have any odor.
This way, the clothes will not absorb moisture from the air, but instead freeze the surrounding air, achieving the purpose of drying.
How to remove mold stains from clothes
On rainy days, not only will clothes not dry properly and emit a foul odor, but also there will be dense black mold spots on the clothes. Wearing moldy clothes is not only unsightly but also harmful to health.
The most commonly used method to remove mold is to soak moldy clothes in rice washing water overnight, allowing the proteins in the water to adsorb the mold. By the next day, the color of the rice washing water had darkened, indicating that a lot of mold had been removed.
For areas where mold is still stubborn, you can apply a 5% alcohol solution or repeatedly rub with hot soapy water, scrubbing back and forth, and basically say goodbye to mold.
In addition, there are different methods for removing mold from clothes made of different materials:
Cotton clothes: You can use a few green bean sprouts and rub them repeatedly in areas with mold spots, then rinse them clean with water to remove the mold spots.
Woolen clothes: First, place the clothes in the sun for a few hours, dry them, and then gently brush off any mold spots with a brush. If mold is caused by oil or sweat stains, you can use a soft-bristle brush dipped in gasoline to scrub the moldy areas repeatedly, then use a clean towel to scrub several times and let it dry in a ventilated place.
Silk clothes: First, soak the silk in water and brush it with a brush. If there are many and heavy mold spots, you can apply a 5% alcohol solution to the areas with mold spots and scrub them repeatedly.
Leather clothing: First, dip a towel in soapy water and wipe repeatedly to remove dirt. Immediately rinse with clean water, then air dry and apply some jacket oil.
Chemical fiber clothes: You can first use a towel dipped in some strong soapy water to scrub, and then rinse with warm water.
